Learn more about Italy

The population in Italy is 61 million people. The capital is Rome, which is called Eternal City because of its fame of being a powerful nation for more than two millennia. The government in Italy is democracy, republic. The language spoken is Italian as we are learning as well as German, French and Ladin in some regions in Northern Italy. Italian is a language that comes from Latin and you still can recognize the roots. The religion in Italy is mostly Christian. The flag is green, white and red. Flags always have a definition to it. Italy’s flag is green for hope, white for faith and red for charity. Italy is in Southern Europe. They say Italy is easy to find on a map because the country is shaped like a high-heeled boot.

The Monte Bianco is the highest mountain Italy has. It’s 4,807m. The highest mountain of Italy can be found in the Alps. The Po is Italy’s longest river. Italy contains three active volcanoes named: Vesuvius, Etna and Stromboli.

Italians has love for sports specially these: soccer, skiing, and cycling and motor racing. There are favored teams in soccer like Juventus, Lazio Roma and Inter Milan. Lets give thanks to the Italians who were the ones who invented the thermometer and the piano. The Italian main dishes contain: pork and beef, seafood and potatoes, rice and pasta (wheat and egg noodles) products. The Italian pasta is known worldwide and there are more than 200 different shapes.

These are facts about Italy. I love facts because they always impress me. I had heard that Italy looked like a boot kicking a ball but today was the day I really noticed and it does look like one! I can’t believe there are more than 200 types of pasta. That’s crazy. I love learning from others by this I mean what they do, eat, what is there to do, their believes and how their nature is. Every place is so different and beautiful in their own way.

Enjoy. Thank you

P.s. Look for a picture of Italy and notice the boot. I would put a picture but I don’t understand this too much.

    Buona sera Stephanie,
I liked all the facts you included about Italy. Don’t worry, I can show a picture of Italy in class so everybody can see the boot shape, 🙂
Italians are very proud of their pasta and there is a pasta museum that you can visit to check all the different varieties they have. Here is the link: http://www.museodellapasta.it
